Bharti can never forget the moment in her life, when a road accident took away her parents, and left her with a crippled left leg and right hand.  Destiny had closed all the doors for innocent Bharti, who was only 6 years old. But then, “when there is darkness all around, the Almighty always provides a ray of hope”. Now studying in B. Com. with computer science, Bharti inspires everyone, that no matter however strong the adversity, positive guidance provided by the family that nourishes your life, turns your defeat into victory.

Her family is none other than "Vaidehi Ashram, Bhagyanagar" which gives new direction, confidence and support to Bharti's life. Vaidehi Ashram was started with just three girls. Now this ashram is not only supporting more than 205 innocent girls, who have been victims of circumstances, but is giving them the opportunity to celebrate the joy and enthusiasm of the life.

Sangh Swayamsevak and Secretary of the Vaidehi Samiti Shri Balkrishna explains that, under the guidance of Late Shri PV Deshmukh ji , Vaidehi Seva Samiti was started in 1993 as a unit of Sewa Bharti in Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad), emphasizing  on the problems of women and children. Six years later, the foundation stone of the new building was laid by the then Akhil Bhartiya Sewa Pramukh Shri Suryanarayana Rao. The new building of this ashram was inaugurated by Mananiya Sarsanghchalak Shri Mohan Rao ji Bhagwat in the year 2000.

Uma Devi, who is leading a happy life after her marriage, proudly says that "I am very fortunate that I was brought up in Vaidehi Ashram. My 5 year old son played the role of a freedom fighter in the school competition and earned first place, for which full credit goes to Vaidehi Ashram. This is because since childhood, I got a chance to learn and participate in various activities like dance, music, theatrical art, karate and sports. Today my three children are also getting the benefit of it.

Even after losing both her parents, and a dark future looming large ahead of her, Kumari P Rangamma was admired in the streets of London, for her handicraft, paper quilling and pearl jewelry. This feat was possible only due to help of Vaidehi Ashram. Today Rangamma also teaches yoga, karate, dance, singing, handicrafts and all such activities to her younger buddies in this ashram.

M Sita Kumari ji the president of Vaidehi Ashram, who is taking care of this ashram from the very beginning, while supporting and guiding the residents with affection, tells with great joy that "every year a marriage or some festival is organized in the courtyard of Vaidehi Ashram, in which our daughters (erstwhile residents) and their families are also invited. Their children also come with them and this courtyard blossoms with the joy of a very big family reunion.

Even during the Corona epidemic, the girls here played a special role and ran a helpline center.

Vaidehi Ashram adopts girls in the age group of 6 to 10 years who do not have parents or guardians. Taking full responsibility of parenting, higher education, rites, life skill development and personality development, Ashram management toils with the goal of making them an ideal and inspirational personality for the society. To ensure quality education, all the girls are educated in Shri Saraswati Shishu Mandir High School till class 10th. Here these girls are encouraged to participate in sports, science fairs, cultural activities etc. They are also made aware of culture, morals and nationalism.  Vaidehi Ashram bears the entire responsibility of marriage even after completion of education. Today 21 daughters of this ashram are doing jobs after post-graduation. Vaidehi Ashram performed every duty of the parents, in the marriage of girls, and even today this ashram is like their maternal home or “Mayka”. Till 2021 Vaidehi Ashram has witnessed marriage of 45 girls who grew up there.

Where on the one hand the existence of a girl in the society is a journey of struggle and challenges in itself, on the other hand organizations like  Vaidehi Ashram gives the  feeling of a shade of a huge tree in the scorching sun.  Such benevolent organizations are making these little girls proficient in all the arts of thriving in the society and fulfilling them with the thought and confidence of flying in the open sky.
